The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a
Winter Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 9 am
this morning to 6 am EST Tuesday. The Winter Storm Watch is no
longer in effect.
* Precipitation type... snow.
* Accumulations... 2 to 4 inches today and an additional 2 to 4
inches tonight.
* Timing... snow will begin between 9 am and 11 am this
morning... and will continue through tonight.
* Temperatures... highs around 30 today. Temperatures dropping into
the teens tonight.
* Winds... southeast 5 to 10 mph today... becoming west 10 to 20 mph
tonight.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow will cause
travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited
visibilities... and use caution while driving.

Capito Calls on White House to Declare Federal Disaster Area for Regions Impacted by Severe Winter Storm
WASHINGTON – Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., has contacted the White House to request a federal disaster declaration for regions in West Virginia that have been impacted by these severe winter storms. After speaking with White House officials, the congresswoman released the following statement:
“These storms have been truly unprecedented – particularly in the eastern panhandle – and I urged the White House to provide every possible avenue of assistance to the communities that have been most affected.
“As families across our state continue to dig out, it’s important that our state and federal agencies are offering all appropriate aid.”
